LONDON, OSLO, AND HANOVER –  JULY 2020 – Providence Strategic Growth (“PSG”), the growth equity affiliate of premier asset management firm Providence Equity Partners (“Providence”), and Verdane, the specialist Northern European growth equity investor, today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement for an investment in Hornetsecurity Group (“Hornetsecurity”), a leading European provider of cloud-based email security and data protection, whereby affiliates of PSG become new shareholders in the Company whereas Verdane re-invests.
Hornetsecurity, the German company which is Europe’s leading email cloud security provider, is expanding its presence in the UK through a strategic partnership with cybersecurity distributor Brigantia. The new partnership – which follows Hornetsecurity’s acquisition of the Poole-based email security provider Everycloud in January – will give it access to Brigantia’s network of resellers throughout the UK and Ireland and support its plans to become the UK market leader within 12 months…
With the 365 Total Protection Suite, Hornetsecurity has already launched a full security service to ensure email and data security for business customers of the international Microsoft 365 cloud service. Now Hornetsecurity is expanding its portfolio with the Hornet.email service, a cloud-based secure corporate communications platform that enables companies to combine additional mailboxes with Microsoft 365 within existing domains and tenants – or to use it as a standalone solution.
Hornetsecurity reported an annual growth in recurring sales of 68 % for the past year. Once again the Email Cloud Security Provider exceeds expectations and as one of the fastest-growing German technology companies is therefore well prepared for the current challenging situation.
For a year, IT security experts from both companies worked on adapting Spamina’s processes and services to Hornetsecurity’s technical environment with success! From now on, the business will continue under a common branding: Spamina is now called Hornetsecurity.
Hornetsecurity wants to protect the medical sector against targeted cyber attacks in the face of the corona crisis: Therefore all email security services for the health sector are free of charge from now on until the end of the year.
Hornetsecurity forms their next important partnership with api Computerhandels GmbH as the third distributor to further increase the penetration of the German IT retail market. The cooperation has strategic advantages for both sides: While Hornetsecurity is once again significantly increasing its presence in the German channel and at the same time gaining access to other European markets, api is expanding its portfolio of value-added services to include important security elements.
A successful start into the new year: Hornetsecurity completes the acquisition of the British distribution partner and email security provider EveryCloud. Since 2009, EveryCloud has sold the services of the German market leader for cloud security solutions exclusively under its own branding in the UK and later also in the USA.
