365 Permission Manager – Simplified compliance policies (coming soon)
Enhancements
Updates to the Compliance Policies
- The Compliance Policies have been simplified and all settings are now in one view
- All Site related settings are enforced and automatically remediated if they do not match the values set in the policy, so admins have full control of the site settings through the product
- New option to ‘follow organization-level’ setting has been introduced for select site settings.
- A new default sharing link option ‘Only people with existing access’ has been added
- Violations for site related settings are always auto-remediated without requiring site owner audits
- Microsoft Teams related settings have been streamlined. This functionality is always enabled going forward where the admins get to set for how long the internal and external sharing links are valid, and whether they also want the files to be removed or not.
- Violations for ‘Microsoft Teams sharing’ are always auto-remediated without requiring site owner audits
- More flexibility has been introduced to the sharing policy settings, enabling better customization for monitoring and auto-remediation which can be set per criteria.
- A remediation action is now available for all criteria being monitored
- The ‘indirect access via groups’ criteria has been split between Internal and External users
- The ‘Everyone’ criteria has been split between Internal and External, depending on the level of access granted
- Admins no longer receive multiple violation emails per policy. Instead, the daily digest email has been enhanced to include all relevant information on the status of the organization.
- If enabled, site owners will be notified of new violations once daily per policy
- Policy creation has been improved, with options to start from scratch, clone existing policies or make use of one of Hornetsecurity’s templates as guidance
- Admins can also add a description for each policy
- New predefined policies have been introduced
Policy translation to the new format:
- All policies on onboarded tenants have been translated to the new format
- The previous predefined policy versions can be identified by having the date appended to the name
- All custom and previous predefined policies will have the badge ‘Converted’ marking the conversion in the ‘Compliance policies’ page
- Sites which were assigned a policy, have been re-assigned the same policy converted to the new format.
