Definition: What is an opt-in?

Opt-in is prior consent to the sending of advertisements. In France, it is not forbidden to send advertising within the framework of the recipient’s professional activity. Conversely, it is not permitted to send unsolicited advertising e-mails to private individuals without their prior consent. Even if the sender respects opt-in, he or she must still respect opt-out.

Opt-in is to be contrasted with opt-out.

Applications

As Opt-in e-mail advertising is widely accepted, Hornetsecurity does not consider this type of e-mail as spam.
