Endpoint Backup Retirement – Customer FAQ
Hornetsecurity is retiring Endpoint Backup. This FAQ explains what is changing, which dates apply, what happens to existing backups, how restore works during the transition period, and who to contact with questions.
What is happening to Endpoint Backup?
Hornetsecurity will discontinue Endpoint Backup as part of its focus on strategic cybersecurity and cloud services.
The product is not being shut down immediately. Existing partners with an Endpoint Manager server already registered can continue using available backup and recovery functions until the final decommissioning date.
Who is affected?
This applies to partners and customers currently using Endpoint Backup, including those with an Endpoint Manager server already registered.
WHEN IS THE DECOMMISSIONING TAKING PLACE?
After March 1, 2027, Endpoint Backup will no longer be available in the Hornetsecurity Control Panel.
This means:
- Endpoint Manager servers will no longer connect to the Control Panel.
- Endpoint Agents will no longer be able to back up endpoint data or configured directories.
- Data recovery through Endpoint Backup will no longer be possible.
Once the service has been fully decommissioned, it will not be technically possible to restore Endpoint Backup data, including in disaster recovery scenarios.
Backup data stored on the customer’s Azure Infrastructure will not be automatically deleted. It will need to be deleted manually after Endpoint Backup is no longer available.
What happens to existing backups?
Existing Endpoint Backup data remains available for backup and recovery use during the transition period, until March 1, 2027.
Customers should review their requirements and complete any required restore activities before this date.
Hornetsecurity will not provide an export or migration option for existing Endpoint Backup data.
Will restore continue to work during the transition period?
Yes. Restore capability will remain available for existing registered Endpoint Manager environments until March 1, 2027.
Customers should use the existing Endpoint Backup restore process in the same way they do today. Any required restores must be completed before the final decommissioning date.
After March 1, 2027, restore through Endpoint Backup will no longer be possible.
Will technical support remain available?
Technical support for Endpoint Backup will remain available until March 1, 2027.
During the transition period, support will focus on operational continuity, backup and restore assistance, and questions related to the retirement timeline. No new features or migration tools will be introduced.
What should customers do now?
Customers using Endpoint Backup should:
- Review their current Endpoint Backup usage.
- Identify whether any backup data may need to be restored before March 1, 2027.
- Complete any required restore activities before the final decommissioning date.
- Contact their usual Hornetsecurity representative or Hornetsecurity Support if they have questions.
