Mobile use of the Control Panel on your device

 

With the Progressive Web App (PWA) you can operate the Control Panel from your mobile device.
The application can be added to the homescreen of your mobile device when you open the Control Panel in your browser. Downloading and installing the app from an Apple Store or Play Store is not necessary.

 
The PWA behaves exactly like the conventional Control Panel and does not need to be constantly updated. You can get the latest news from the local notifications displayed in the Control Panel.

System requirements

The use of the Progressive Web App is independent of the operating system of your mobile device. We recommend that you use the following browsers to ensure that Webapp functions are used as error-free as possible:

Functional Scope

Note: “The use of the Control Panel via the Progressive Webapp is currently limited. Until the modules are converted to HTML format, the integrated Flash modules cannot be used with mobile devices.

The following modules cannot currently be used with mobile devices:

  • Reporting & Compliance
    • Statistic
    • Auditing
    • Webfilter
  • Management
  • Security settings
    • Hornetdrive

Set up PWA on your mobile device

This chapter explains how to set up the Progressive Web App of the Control Panel on your mobile device.

Setting up PWA with Android

In this manual, the Progressive Web App for the Android operating system is set up using the Firefox browser.

 

Note:
When using browsers other than Firefox, the display settings for setting up the PWA may differ from the below!

 

      1. Open the browser on your mobile device and enter the URL of the Control Panels.

        The Progressive Web App of the Control Panel opens. This is indicated by the missing frame of the browser window.
      2. Tap on the menu button in the upper right corner and then tap on + ADD TO HOME SCREEN.

        A window with suggested memory settings opens. 
      3. Enter a title to be used on your Home Screen and save your entries with ADD AUTOMATICALLY.

      The PWA has been added to the Home Screen.

      You have successfully set up the Progressive Web App on your Android device.

Setting up PWA with iOS

In this manual, you set up the Progressive Web App for the iOS operating system using the Safari browser.

 

Note: When using browsers other than Safari, the display settings for setting up the PWA may differ from the below!
  1. Open the browser on your mobile device and enter the URL of the Control Panel.

    The Progressive Web App of the Control Panel opens. This is indicated by the missing frame of the browser window.
  2. Tap the Share button and then tap on Add to Home screen.

    A window with suggested settings opens.


  3. Enter a title to be used on your Home screen and save your entries with Add.
    The PWA has been added to the Home screen.

You have successfully set up the Progressive Web App on your iOS device.

Customize the Progressive Web App

Customize the app name and the app icon of the progressive web app to the design of your company.

 

  1. Select WhitelablingAppearance.
  2. Enter the desired app name in the field App Name.
  3. Upload a picture with the file type PNG under App Icon.

Underneath the file selection for the App icon you can see a preview of the icon in various sizes. As well as you can see a preview of the splashscreen under Splashscreen. The splashscreen is displayed while loading the progressive web app and contains the file that was uploaded under Logo.

  1. Save your settings.

The logo and the app name is displayed on the homescreen of mobile devices.
